A JOURNEY
What is the point of my existence? Why am I alive? Why am I even breathing in this air? These are the sort of questions that got me on the path of discovery to where I find myself now. Empowering questions wanting to get to my core in the pursuit of some form of meaningful clarity. Though I must admit that at the start of this unraveling I had no idea what I was doing…I was merely responding to feelings of great inner conflict in a purely instinctive way. Existential crisis they call it or the call to radical self knowing as I rather refer to it myself. The ancients used to say ‘Know Thyself’ and certainly asking the right questions is one of the simplest ways of embarking on the journey to do so. Welcoming the ‘why’ of everything to become essential…and allowing the ‘how’ to manifest with the momentum of your enquiries and subsequent discoveries. Looking at my own blueprint it could easily be suggested I’d take this questioning root at some point and then attempt to inspire and pass on the knowledge to others. This is how astrology ended up in my heart. It was my first vivid questioning and my first ‘ask and you shall be given’ moment during the second year of my Law degree when it started to become apparent that a lot of my choices were not really authentically mine. The act of externalising authority and people pleasing in order to feel accepted and validated along with being disassociated from my true feelings had become my unconscious driver as a defensive response to a great deal of trauma and instability growing up. All experiences that I am now incredibly grateful for as I got to develop the skills that help me understand and adapt to the people I work with. I didn’t go to astrology for answers, we found each other within days of my questioning when I intuitively connected with my Aries Moon and Ascendant before even knowing there was more to life than my Sagittarian Sun sign. To follow an emotional, instinctive reaction, to follow intuition and then have it validated on a subject you know nothing about can initiate a very powerful relationship with it that the logical mind stands no ground to deny….and that was the start of it all.
Though a lingering sense of nebulousness encouraging continuous seeking and surrendering took at least 7 more years to leave my side, answers and guidance started coming. Inner fire of curiosity turned on and started leading the way. Intuition, something speaking from the inside in the form of animation or feelings of un comfortability and various forms of synchronistic events all began to nudge me that there is something really important for me here to explore. And so the self study began in 2007, followed by a two year study in 2010 at Liz Greene’s Centre for Psychological Astrology, followed by a sharp motivation to practise and share the truths I was discovering. The truth that we did not come here empty handed. The truth that each of us has a soul that made choices about how it wanted to evolve and contribute to the evolution of our collective consciousness. That there are these Forms, as Plato called them, or Archetypes, as Carl Jung preferred…ie thought forms, experiential patterns or autonomous energies perhaps, that we are constantly experiencing, expressing and incarnating. And the truth that there is this ancient symbolic language that helps us make sense of these forces in our personal and collective lives. Helps us explore questions like what purpose is our envesseled soul here to serve? What do we need on our current path to wholeness? How can we better align with the inner, higher being working through us and bring this inner ‘Daimon’, our inner ‘Genius’ to life?
After some years of doing readings I also started exploring Numerology, Human Design, Tarot, and the mystical essence of the Kabbalah teachings. Fascinated by the different Arts and Sciences of Divination and how they mirror and fuse together to empower us to make a far greater journey of self-exploration, should we hear the call and feel ready to take it. To begin to really know ourselves is really the start on our path towards our bliss. That magical state of contentment and co-creation with the divine. Now do I think we necessarily need all these tools to get to the sweet spot of our experience in this realm? My answer is a yes as well as a no, for the wisdom and guidance is already within and the unmeasurable power of prayer and meditation can start an almost immediate and effortless process should we be able to stay in its positive light, carefully listen and allow ourselves to receive. But have we been encouraged to practice these skills? Have we been taught to ‘check in’? Have we learnt to go past the loud voice of the conscious mind and start to tune in to the subtle guidance of our ‘unconscious’ -the force that is responsible for 95 percent of our actions? It is easy to observe that the mainstream message rarely speaks these truths and the importance of alignment. This unfortunate manifestation along with our early and continuous conditioning within an outdated system cause a havoc on our innate understandings of how to be. And this is where these spiritual tools come in, for to divinate is to acknowledge and speak to the soul; to understand its desired unique expression and to speak to the soul is too speak to God. And I mean God as you happen to understand this force….be it a man in the sky with a long white beard or the Universe or The Vortex, LOVE, Sophia, The Great Spirit, Grace, Oneness…that ‘personal and simultaneously impersonal Source of all that is’ is one of my favourite teachers, medical intuitive Carolyn Myss puts it.
In response to a desire to have more impact with my work I felt pulled towards exploring hypnosis and understanding neurosciense. In particular the use of hypnosis as a follow up to an astrological consulation for the purpose of greater integration and embodiment of insights gained. So I trained in a unique hypnosis modality called Hypnostasis in order to deepen the affect of our work together by implanting suggestions you feel aligned with. In effect, assisting the creation of new neuro-pathways in your brain and to strengthen existing ones that serve the emotional body in manifesting a reality that is much more in tune with your inner intelligence. Going beyond a heady conversation into a more affective absorption of understandings. This is where aromatherapy, the use of essential oil blends comes in too for they have a powerful way to trigger memory in the mind. When used in a way that enhances their essence with powerful affirmations to work in synergistic way and support your journey long after our session concludes.
As Harvard Philosophy Professor and Astrologist Rick Tarnas explains, interpreting the astrological language is like translating poetry. Every interpreter will do it through their own personal filters such as their own blue print, life experiences and level of conscious awareness. In wanting to honour this truth and integrate the current understanding of quantum mechanics I aim to be as mindful and careful as possible in how I engage a dialogue and use our spoken language for I fully understand focused thought and emotion is what creates the momentum for new realities to manifest. In wanting to keep my channels clean I have engaged in extended psychotherapy, fear and resentment releasing exercises, shamanic dietas and a daily meditation practice to make sure my self awareness level is high and any projections in check.
At the end of the day, my greatest satisfaction in life comes from knowing that LIFE is working through me to help serve this world.
One session or smile at a time.
